Baba Fareedؒ Islamic Research Centre, (BFIRC) Pakpattan

Baba Fareed Islamic Research Centre is functional from January 2017 with the collaboration of Department of Islamic Studies under headship of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asghar Javed Al-Azhari. The main purpose of the Centre is to develop interest in several areas of biographical studies and research with reference to Baba Fareedud Din Masood Ganj Shakar (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ). The Chair, in future, will be working on compilation of the biographical work publish in the country.

Establishing the Research Center:

The mission is to create a Centre of excellence in Islamic research with special reference to Baba Fareed ud Din Masood Ganj Shakarؒ for achieving world class, cutting edge, innovation oriented in the most crucial and fruitful topics in Islam and spirituality under the auspices of Baba Fareedؒ Educational & Welfare Trust.

The main focus of the BFIRC will be on conducting creative work undertaken on a systematic basis in order to increase the stock of knowledge in Islam with reference to Baba Fareed ud Din Masood Ganj Shakarؒ. The research will be based on various approaches as well as on different methods in the field of religious studies. Contemporary Approaches to the study of religion and all the types of traditional research of Muslim world will be kept together for getting better results.

The BFIRC will offer courses in Islamic research, and qualitative and quantitative methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Short courses in areas of high interest will also be offered through the BFIRC. Students supported and mentored by professors, will also participate in department-based intervention and action research evaluation projects as part of their course work and field experiences. The BFIRC will also serve as a resource and support for students in their research in the field of Islamic Studies with special reference to Baba Fareedud Din Masood Ganj Shakar (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ).

In addition to research activities, the BFIRC will conduct and support relevant research projects that are designed to address questions pertinent to the mission and goals of the BFIRC. These research activities will be designed to generate knowledge about the spiritualism, tasawwuf and Awliya e Kraam from authentic sources according to the research methods of contemporary academic world. The results of these studies will lead to the development of religious knowledge, practicing Islam, Spiritual activities, Sufi path of guidance, methods of purifications in four chains (Salaasal) and role models for Muslims.

To achieve the said objectives of the research activities, by the grace of Almighty ALLAH, Trust arranges annual “Baba Fareedؒ International Conference”. From the last fifteen years Trust has conducted 12 successful annual international conferences in Pakpattan. The annual conference is held in Muharram-ul-Haram`s first week on the eve of annual Uras of Baba Fareed-ud-Deen Masood Ganj Shakarؒ.

The BFIRC will conduct and support presentations by students and faculty at major national and regional professional conferences. The BFIRC will also sponsor or co-sponsor symposia, seminars and workshops on critical issues related to the goals of BFIRC. The BFIRC will also sponsor annual student and faculty research poster sessions during which the works of students and faculty will be shared in poster format and reviewed, critiqued and discussed by other students and faculty.

Publications

  • In addition to research activities, the BFIRC will conduct and will support relevant research projects that are designed to address questions pertinent to the mission and goals of the BFIRC. These research activities will be designed to generate knowledge about the relationship between certain variables of interest and to test certain hypotheses. The results of these studies will lead to the development of specific interventions.

Journals & Biography

The BFIRC will start Baba Fareedؒ Journal of Islamic Research (FJIR) within six months and get approval from HEC. The Journal will be published after every three months.The BFIRC will publish Biography of Baba Fareedud Din Masood Ganj Shakarؒ with authentic sources with genetic background.

Mobile Apps

The BFIRC with collaboration of Department of Computer Sciences design Mobile apps and software to run on smart phones and other mobile devices. The collection of poetry of Baba Fareedud Din Masood Ganj Shakarؒ and biography will be concluded at first step.
